The most preventable struggles I come into contact with are difficulties with Self-Esteem, Identity, Relationship Conflict, Finding Meaning, Anxiety, Youth at Risk, and Substance Abuse.
These obstacles present themselves on all socio-economic levels, across all ages, and in what often seems or feels like a healthy family environment. Oftentimes it is no one's fault, there is no one to blame, sometimes it is just the way things work out.
However; if we notice our family, partners, other loved ones, and especially our children struggle - and we take a passive stance, we are acting irresponsibly. I have a saying for this behaviour: "Our heads in the sand can harm our loved ones ..."
Therefor an approach of preventative education can mitigate or avoid the risk of misunderstanding and emotional pain, which often ends in hopelessness, and self-destructive behaviours and cycles.
It is to this end that I do live streaming Q&A, podcasts, present lectures, facilitate group workshops, and live online discussions to assist us and our loved ones to identify the obstacles and risks we are sure to encounter at various stages of our lives. Viewers (amputees and disabled and their loved ones) can call in or comment online, real time, to have questions answered. As of January 2024 our online streaming community has grown to over 5000 subscribers (no subscription fee payable).
I also conduct these workshops and lectures at schools, clinics, and youth programs, or in smaller focus groups at my practice in Church Street, Stellenbosch.
